Chia Jam

Writer's picture: Caroline FarrellCaroline Farrell

This jam can be made in 10 minutes with only 3 ingredients. It's thickened using chia seeds, which offer healthy fats, fibre, and minerals. Berries are packed with antioxidants that may boost our immune system and help prevent aging.

This jam is a delicious way to increase your antioxidant intake. Spread it on toast or add a spoonful to yogurt, porridge, waffles, or pancakes. My kids like it much better than store-bought jam!

Chia Jam

Ingredients

  • 350g frozen berries (raspberries, cherries and blueberries work well)

  • 2 tbls. maple syrup or honey

  • 2 tbls. whole chia seeds

 Directions

  1. Add the raspberries and honey/maple syrup to a pan and simmer for 5 minutes then mash the berries with a potato masher or fork.

  2. Add the chia seeds and simmer for a further 5 minutes. Pour the jam into a jar. This will keep in the fridge for one week.
